Contact Dispute Assessment

This service has been developed to enable non-resident parents either to re-establish or maintain contact with their children during the assessment process.

The assessment will focus on the quality of relationships and reasons why contact between the parties and the children is problematic. This is a unique service offered to separated families, that affords all parties the opportunity of meeting together in a safe, neutral and supportive environment, combined with the additional benefit of an independent Contact Supervisor present throughout all the sessions.

The assessment is time limited over a period of ten sessions, which is inclusive of; an initial assessment during the first meeting, through to a final feedback session which is convened to share the assessment report with the family, prior to it being passed to the commissioning agency. The assessment process is solution focused, to enable the parties the opportunity of time together considering the interventions made and recommendations of the Trust’s independent qualified practitioner.

The assessment sessions will be tailored to the families individual circumstances, the structure of which be agreed during the first meeting. The sessions can be a combination of the non-resident parent and child, parental group and child, or individual time with the child and a professional practitioner (if leave of the Court has been grated to ascertain the child’s wishes and feelings).

The focus and structure of this service, is to assist all parties and the Courts with understanding what is in the child’s best interests and timeframe. All assessment reports will conclude with analysis of the sessions and recommendations as to future arrangements.
